Over the weekend, a mother was driving with her two children in her vehicle when she was attacked by a motorcyclist in the area of City Hall in Philadelphia. Thankfully, an arrest has been made in the case, and the suspect is now facing multiple charges including Aggravated Assault and Recklessly Endangering Another Person. Let's take a closer look at what happened and what we know about the suspect.
According to authorities, the suspect in the attack has been identified as 26-year-old Cody Heron. Heron was arrested on Wednesday in the Frankford section of Philadelphia. He is facing several charges including Possession of an Instrument of Crime and Recklessly Endangering Another Person. Bail has been set at $2.5 million.
During a press conference on Wednesday, First Assistant DA Robert Listenbee condemned Heron’s behavior stating, “His violent, lawless behavior is totally unacceptable here in the city and county of Philadelphia.” Heron was with a group of ATV and dirt bike riders when he attacked the mother's car which was carrying her two young children.
Video footage captured the incident which showed Heron using his feet to smash the mother's rear windshield. When the woman confronted him, the suspect picked up a black handgun that had fallen from his waistband and pointed it at her.
This incident has understandably shaken the community and left many asking why this happened. While we still don't know the motive behind the attack, we do know that the family in the vehicle was terrified and that Heron's actions were dangerous and reckless.
It’s essential for Philadelphians to understand that this type of behavior will not be tolerated. Whether it's on the streets or in our neighborhoods, violence and criminal activity must be reported and punished. Thanks to law enforcement's swift action, the suspect is now behind bars and facing the consequences of his actions.
We hope that justice will be served in this case and that the family involved in the attack will be able to heal from this traumatic experience. We also encourage everyone to remain vigilant and report any criminal activity they witness in their communities. Thank you to the Philadelphia Police Department and all law enforcement agencies who worked quickly to bring the suspect into custody. Let's continue to work together to keep Philadelphia safe for everyone.
